Due to the responce you seem to be having, it seems that the people of Kelty are having a difficult time remembering any good times over the last decade. Young men from their own streets going to war in far off countries for reasons no-one seems to be sure of. Worst and longest reccession in living memory with people loosing their jobs and homes. Highest ever unemployment figures for 18-25 yearolds. Maybe Kelty people haven't got many good memories of the last decadebut at least they have a chance to make the next decade a much more exciting prospect. Election Year is upon us once more and I personally think that this could be the last chance for Kelty to grab the bull by the horns and move into the 21st century or forever be remembered as just another mining village stuck in the last century. Whatever people's politics are, I hope they use this election to kick-start the future of a fine village with good people and a great future if the right people are elected. SNP, Labour, Conservative or Lib-Dems, it's time to make your choice, I'm sure Kelty will get it right this time.

John Redmond says

Well Said Martin..BUT! who can the people vote for they can trust, all political parties have shown how crooked they all are by filling their own pockets and dont care for voters,Labour is there to care for the rich bankers, and get industrialists rich by illegal wars.Tories there to destroy British working classes,Liberals dont know what to do with theirselves.SNP can take care of Scotland but cant take care of Britain. So who is left ?

Martin Nicol says

Yir singin' the same auld song Jock.

John Redmond says

Answer the question which political party have you put yer faith in......then you maybe convert others.

Martin Nicol says

I have no intention of getting into an argument over my political views with you Jock, or anyone else for that matter. If you must know, I haven't decided which party will be lucky enough to get my vote yet. I shall wait until all the parties publish their manifesto, read them all very carefully and make an informed decision then and only then. Unlike many people who vote for a particular party because their father voted for them and their father before them etc. May I suggest you do the same Jock.

Roy Thomson says

Well said Martin thought this was about good things in Kelty. For me the best thing about Kelty never mind in the last decade but always IS THE FOLK.

Henry Rummins says

Well both vote for a political party that has it's belief truely for Scotland and it's ayne folk.

NEIL MILLER says

It matters not a jot which political party shuffles into power, not for a village such as Kelty, and we are discussing Kelty here, The SNP are not going to turn the local resources/industries around and give us more employment, because our local resources are gone.

Kelty is growing with commuters traveling outwith fife even, to desk/sales jobs! Kelty is not traditionally a white collar community!. no party can impact the village to that extent. so our children are stuck hearing of a proud industrial/mining heritage, whilst at the jobcentre men are told to look to a telesales or customer service job!

Change is maybe not the best thing to happen in the last ten years folks, but it's in the post, in fact it's on the matt and we need to teach our kids to stick in at school, travel and see the world because the alternative is a job (maybe) at Sky, the forces or the dole.

Kelty has great folks just not alot folks can aspire to.

Change.

Tam Anderson says

Kelty was a braw place tae live when I was a young lad, I can't comment on it now since I left years ago. But I am going to stick my nose into the politics with my pennies worth. If you don't vote for SNP what is the alternative??? more of the same unionist tripe Scotland has suffered in my short life time, the list is long! but the one I identify the most as a failing nation is that more Scots live outside her border than lives in it. Lets Grasp the Thistle and make Scotland a place to live and be proud of. Does Scotland have what it takes to be a free Nation again???

Have your say...
