Kelty kids go wild at library's zoo workshop
24 July, 2012Kids in Kelty went wild as more than 40 children enjoyed ZooLab’s ‘fun-learning’ interactive workshop at Kelty Library.
The Ranger gave the youngsters the opportunity to handle the creatures on show, including a rabbit, a rat, a tarantula and a snake which was the favourite.
Library Assistant, Dolina Stein said: “The children loved the opportunity to handle the creatures – and they were far braver than the library staff! The event was both entertaining and educational.”
As the event was Olympic sport-related, there was a sprint race between a cockroach and a millipede, with a snail bringing up the rear!
Kelty Library is competing to have the longest row of flags in any Fife Library and, to take part in this, children should come along and decorate flags to add to the colourful, global display. Flag decoration will run throughout the summer holidays. It’s a free event and is open to all ages so ON YOUR MARKS …!
There is also a Summer Reading Challenge with the opportunity to win bronze, silver and gold so children who would like to participate should race along to their local library.
