Kelty gets set for Gala Day and coal race
25 Jun 2009As ever, the Scottish Coal-Carrying championship race starts the day, with the 1km event along the high street attracting athletes from across the country to take on the challenge of carrying the 50kg (25kg for ladies) sack of coal along the undulating course.
The race gets under way at 11.30am - and amongst the entrants this year will be local councillor Willie Rennie. The event is sponsored by Scottish Coal.

After the race, the Gala parade will make its way along the High Street, followed by an afternoon of entertainment, including face painting and clowns.
