Tam Anderson says

Hi John,

I was always interested in wildlife so for this country Loon it was always going to be a job outside. So to get employment i left Kelty for a job in forestry and never looked back with jobs all over Scotland. To finally being head forester on a private estate for 25 years. Hard work and no regrets. Scotland being a braw place to work and live

John Redmond says

Well a hae tae say life has had its ups and doons fer me, efter a grew up and gave up the wild life in Kelty, a travelled all over with new age travellers and with Fairs and circus and with Gypsys and ye couldnt me far nicer people, a ken thay had a bad name but wha didnae old wifeys tales pit fook against gypsies, mithirs saen tae thi bairns

"They wull come and tak ye away in middle o thi night"and funny thing wis gypsy bairns got telt the same that townies wid tak them tae skales, I have been a hippy all my life and always had lang hair and bearded, and dress tae suit me and nae like ithirs in suits and ties.

I dinna smoke ower drink noo naen fer 20 years

I wish a haed stopped lang ago.

Ive written quite a few hundred poems some welllknown some not, wrote a guid few fook songs, and just write aboot fook a ken, never professed tae bi an edsucated man, bit made dae with whit God geed me, why spend £21 if ye only hae £18, why spend it afore ye get it.

The only sad things in my life wis losin my bonnie wife Mary in a Kelty fire 10th March 1980 ain oor wee lassie bairn, luckily my son Bob wis at skale but sadly died in 2008, wis killed in usa, and then a hae jist got on wi it.

I likit Kelty a lot, many grand people but widnae want tae stay there onimair, probably why so many left, and its no same now anyway, half thay streets never heard o. and we canna gan back in time.we hae been thair an done it.

Id like tae write a book aboot my real life in Kelty, but many wid rattle their chains hohoho,

John Redmond says

Memories, Nostalgia & History

History doesn't have to be in black & white

Your memory of a local character or a school photo from the last ten years can be just as interesting as wars and Victorians.
