There was 4 brothers and a father named Pryde in Band was Wullie he played Tuba, David played Cornet, another brother John played a larger Tuba and a trombone ,, Marshall played cornet and Big drum, their father played trombone,,The reason I remember them was my mother used to care for the father when he was ill, they had a sister she was a pal of my mothers her name was Etta Pryde, the whole family were all musicians all taught by their father, the walls in their living room was covered in framed photos of them in the band and individually at contests they had also lots of cups on their sideboard, the whole family suffered from problems in legs and feet,to extent I think it was Marshall and Wullie they got legs amputated at Bridge of Earn,Marshal was youngest,I was about 8/9 at the time and Marshall was same age as my father and mother 30-45,
I remember Marshall always wore a dark blue stripped suit, he was quite a fit walker to have two artificial legs,he and my father worked at a mine up gask road wherButterchurn was built,
The rest of band was another family called Malcolm ,they band was all just miner families,, I used to watch Marshall even play big bass drum for pipe band,,
Marshall used to go to all the funerals of anyone he had known in his life and a few he didnt know, couple of miners in British Legion in later years nicknamed him "Steakpie Pryde" as the pies were favourites at funerals for mourners..Im sure many who lived in middle of Centre street always heard brass band noise from their house, they were just at start of culde sac, on right,, I dont know what happened to all the trophys and framed photos..I vaguely remember Jock Malcolm was a great Cornet player.
i would like to know some history of my home at 3 bath street as we have only been in our house for 2 years.
does anyone know please ?
