Jock Redmond, you must have cheated because I remember we had to walk down as far as Flower St and turn back up then down to the bus turn at the top of the Black Rd and back up to the school.

John Redmond says
I remember when the public school was where all the classes met for the gala and then pipe band marched round to catholic school and brought the kids to public school.
Then they came out school up bath street turn left down main street turn at bus garage and back up main street to half way down Stewart's brae and back for the milk and buns and 2/- that you could spend at Johnny Morris's shows.
They always had their chairo planes down at the corner at the roundabout and all showmans stalls, that was when Kelty gala day committee raised lots of cash and the local miners helped.
Dunfermline was always on before Kelty and it would always rain for them. The march consisted of John Terris leading Then the banner, then Oakfield school, and Kinross pipe band, and then nursery and primary school, and then Dunfermline accordion band, then Catholic school children and then Kelty Brass band, and then Kelty Public big school and then Kelty Pipe band.
Then everyone down the park for fun and games racing for a shilling, yes those were the gala days.
