Col. Hugh Fraser's Regiment of Dragoones
I am the local representative for a registered charity, with membership that spans the UK. We help preserve battlefields, monuments and historical buildings. We have given in excess of £2million to other charities across the UK, in Scotland we support CHAS, Barnardos, The Mariners Trust and many others.
Fraser's are the most northerly regiment in The Sealed Knot, who's aims and objectives are to raise awareness of and an interest in the history of the UK. We do this by putting on battle re-enactments, museum displays, school visits and lectures about the great civil war and 17th Century life.
I get to stay and play in some of the greatest castles and historic buildings around the country, as we do our displays. I can be found in the living history camp, as the barber-surgeon, and can talk you through many historic operations, and at times show the use of medicinal leeches.
There are many roles to play, and we are always looking for more members, wether you want to be a soldier and learn about the weapons, a covenanting minister preaching to the troops, or any 1 of hundeds of civilian roles portraying the 17th century. We have several families with children ranging from toddlers to teens. The younger kids enjoy the dressing up and the older kids can join the apprentices and learn about the weapons and become trained to join the fun of the battlefield when they reach 16.
There is also a great social side to the regiment, with a reputation for themed parties that span the whole organisation, to the campfire singalongs at events. All in all, a great way to raise money for charities across the UK, whilst having fun.

I wanted to join this group. I emailed about it. I got no response. What's the point in having this entry listed if you're not going to respond?
